Saxony

Saxon noble rulers played a rather important role in the life of Western Europe. The Elector was a subsidiary of "The Sacred Roman Empire". A favorable geographical position at the crossroads of trade routes made it one of the richest states of Germany. It possessed a rather good regular army of about 30 000 recruited soldiers. By the year 1701 Saxonian army had 20 regiments of infantry, 7 cuirassier and 6 of dragoons.
